Upcoming Events:

* May 13, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 pm. FREE Money Management Course: Investments and You: What are my Options? Tom Sinclair, RBC Bank Manager will discuss investment options available and their pros and cons. Stocks, bonds and mutual funds will be covered as well as retirement investments, university savings and how to buy a home. Call 885-4088 to register.

* May 14, 2008 from 12-1:30 pm. Women's Potluck Luncheon. Come out and connect with other women and enjoy a delicious lunch!

* May 17, 2008 from 1-3 pm. NEW Sunshine Coast Cancer
Support Group. People experiencing any type of cancer and/or their caregivers are welcome to participate in this free drop-in peer support group. Meet third Saturday of each month.

* May 23, 2008 2-4:00 pm. NEW Book Club. Celebrating
Canadian authors. The Curve of Time, the classic memoir of a woman and her children exploring the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest, by M. Wylie Blanchet will be discussed. To register call 885-4088.

* May 24, 2008 2-5 pm.Saturday- Thai Cooking course-Food Fun & Friends In partnership with PAMOJO for thier event in Roberts Creek Hall,on Sunday,May 25 from 12 to 5 pm.

* May 30, 2008 from 10-12 pm. FREE Legal Course: Estate Planning: What You Need to Know. Alison Sawyer, Lawyer and Notary Public covers all the bases: What if I die without a will?; Is it neccessary to have a will?; Will kit or lawyer?And many more questions you have been asking. Those who attend the workshop are eligible to meet with Alison for a FREE one to one follow up appointment.

* May 1 -June 19, 2008. ElderCollege is offering a Civic
Leadership Program, eight full days of instruction over seven weeks. Topics include: governance in our community,
managing meetings, communication and advocacy skills,
field work and guest speakers from various public and
private organizations on the coast. Course fee is $120.00
(incl lunch). Apply through Capilano College at 885-9310.

government services on the Sunshine Coast. In person,

*FREE Access Justice Pro Bono Legal Clinics Thursdays 12-1:30 pm by appointment. Call 885-4088 for more information.

* FREE Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. Wednesdays
March 5 - May 2, 2008, by appointment. We assist people who earn under $25,000 annually file their basic income tax returns for the 2007 taxation year. Our volunteers are trained by the Canada Revenue Agency.

* Free Internet/computer Mon-Fri from 12-5 pm (drop-in).
One-to-One Training sessions by appointment. Call

* Free Form Filling Service. Receive one-to-one assistance in completing forms including government forms. Book an appointment at 604-885-4088.

* NEW Sunshine Coast Cancer Support Group. People
experiencing any type of cancer and / or their caregivers
are welcome to participate in this free drop-in peer
support group. Meet third Saturday of each month 1-3 pm,
next meeting May 17, 2008.

* NEW SC Seniors Housing Information Project. Provides
information to seniors about housing options and government assistance. Call 885-4088 for more information or to book
an appointment.

* NEW Money Management for Women Program. Free courses,
e-newsletter, lending library and free one-to-one money
management sessions. Call 885-4088 to book an appointment.

Updates:

* Planning for the Future Care of an Adult or Child with a Disability (0-19 yrs) was a well-attended success with over 15 participants.

Appointments are now available with internationally renowned expert and founder of PLAN, Jack Collins. Call 885-4088 to book.

* Our new book club is proving to be a fun and stimulating gathering. You never know what interesting and well connected poeple you will meet! Sign up now for our May 23 discussion of The Curve of Time by M. Wylie Blanchet.
